Ginger Me Up
There are little things we can add to our lives every day to create a better, happier and healthier quality of living. Greatness can start from small steps, made consistently and positively! Today, I will explain one simple addition you would greatly benefit from adding into your current diet -- and (wait for it)… all you need is ginger and water.
So, I can write a whole post just on explaining yin and yang balance in our bodies and the importance of it -- but I won't do that here. Basically, everything we intake, including chemicals we breathe in, have cold/warm effects on our bodies and will either work towards strengthening or weakening our organs. All of the yin foods go straight into the stomach and begin to make it very cold. Every time you add more cold food (doesn’t necessarily mean cold as in temperature), you continue to weaken and slow down the burning digestive fire needed for proper digestion.
Here is where Ginger Tea plays its helpful role! Ginger is a very hot, nourishing herb that strengthens and warms the digestive system by removing cold from your body. Its potency can even heal and rev up your metabolism.
A few other benefits if that’s not enough:
- Strengthens immunity
- Regulates menstrual cycle and reduces PMS
- Reduces joint pain and arthritis
- Improves circulation
- Increases Yang energy
- Kills parasites
Only thing left now is how do you make it? Super easy! Here it is:
For each cup of water, use 5-6 slices of fresh ginger with skin. Smash them, then place the ginger in a small pot with your water to cook for 5 minutes. Pour the water in a mug and add brown sugar or honey to taste!
